Precautions for using cargo straps
Mar 24,2025
The following points should be noted when using cargo lashing straps:
Selecting the appropriate lashing strap: Choose a lashing strap of the appropriate width based on the size and weight of the item to be secured. An excessively wide strap may be wasteful, while an excessively narrow strap may not effectively secure the item.
Correct use of lashing straps: Secure one end of the lashing strap to a fixing point, then wrap it around the surface of the cargo, ensuring the strap fits snugly against the cargo. Cross-wrapping can increase stability. For heavier or larger cargo, multiple lashing straps can be used.
Adjusting and tightening lashing straps: After securing the lashing strap to the item, its length needs to be adjusted and tightened. Mechanical or manual methods can be used to tighten the lashing strap, creating sufficient tension to secure the item. Be careful not to overtighten, as this may damage the item or the strap itself.
Avoid using damaged lashing straps: Only use undamaged lashing straps with clearly visible labels indicating their capacity. Do not knot the webbing, and avoid placing objects on the lashing straps to prevent injury.
Regular inspection and maintenance: Regularly check the lashing straps for wear and tear. If any breakage, severe wear, or deformation is found, replace the straps immediately to prevent accidents during transport.
Adhere to safety standards: Follow relevant transport regulations and safety standards to ensure that the use of lashing straps complies with regulations.
